Let me be clear about this please people.

I am not one of the developers of most of the software on this site.

If you're reporting a bug that relates to a configuration, styling, system administration or any other species of mistake that I might have made and can rectify then I will normally deal with it quite happily (unless we're just having a difference of opinion about how things should look).

If you're reporting a bug in the underlying software, then unless it's a major showstopper or something that's my fault I'm unlikely to roll up my sleeves and fix the code. I don't lack the necessary skill to do so (I'm a pretty adequate PHP developer), so please don't jump up and volunteer to do it for me. The issue is one of change management.

If I fix a bug in a package that I then subsequently update, then I've made a change management rod for my back.

The better approach is to take such bugs back to the support community for the package in question and try to get them fixed for everyone.

Within reason, and at my discretion, I'm happy to do that.

I hope you all understand.
