Too Much Coffee

I've been corresponding with a Danish guy about roasting with Hottops. Naturally I suggested he take a look at TMC and consider joining us. His response was:

I have looked at the toomuchcoffee.com page, but found some of the articles
going in the more technical direction that I find interesting but not really
usefull in my own roasting life, and it takes more time to read things on
webpages than just to receive an e-mail list like the Sweet Marias list, but
I will register to support the page, and take a closer look at what is
posted

What do the rest of you think? Are we too technical? What should we do about it if so?

I don't think the site is too technical at all.
There again being an engineer by trade, i suppose that does not count.
Also i may have a different view if English were not my first, and in my case, only language.
No, i think the site has just about the right ballance.

I think he didn't look very closely at the forum.

Definatly didn't look at the forum closely, but it's good to have the feedback. But then I feel the opposite to him re the SM list and I wish they'd change to a forum, 100 emails a day, only 20 coffee related, only 5 I'm interested in!

It may have something to do with the fact he's blind, actually. If he joins that'll give me some interesting issues re accessibility.

I wouldnt worry about being to techie. We cant be all things to all men, some times someone isnt gonna like what we are doing. As long as we like it then its just fine

We are not here to cater for everybody. We hope to attract people who share our passion. If he feels the way he describes, then that it is better for both to leave it like that. He may still join, but if he doesn't contribute it is a waste of time.

I think we should stick to our strategy. Any change should come from within and not from the outside.
