TMC mailaccount problem

Postby Aadje » Mon Mar 06, 2006 5:07 pm

A few days ago I typed an Y in the "Do you want a TMC emailaccount" box. I made a POP3 account at my mailprgram (Mail at my iBook) but the server rejects my password with user Aadje and mailaddress aadje@toomuchcoffee.com

So far I've tried:

aadje instead of Aadje
my password and my 1st given-by-Phil password
using SSL and not using SSL

When I try to log into the webmailserver I get this message:

ERROR:
ERROR : Connection dropped by imap-server.

Help . . .

Do you use a different password for your mailprogram?

No, same password. Just as it says in the Email FAQ.

No provider password for me, I'm at University Internet. But that all works, It's the TMCmailserver that doesnt want me . . . at least that's what i think. As far as I know I spelled the server names correctly.

Have you asked Phil to set things up for you?

Aadje,
I know you've already emailed Phil on this, so there's little point in me trying to resolve the problem here in this thread. If you're still having problems, send me an email using the site email and I'll try and sort you out.
There's nothing wrong with either the server or the account generation scripts though, because I've just tested both and they work fine. And there's little point in trying ssl/tsl etc. as the server doesn't advertise them (plain/login only). Do check to make sure whether you have configured for pop or imap.

Sorry about that. It's a bad habit of mine, when things don't work I get impatient and all stressed. Won't spam you again.
