1.Is it possible to have the smileys permanently on-screen?
2. I like one feature of my bike-forum and that is that the names of all members currently logged-in are shown. How about that here?

I often wonder who is on the site too, I'd like that. How about a members only chat room too phil is that possible on the new server?

You can always see who's online in either the member list on the left hand side menu, and in the forum member list (which are slightly different, I think).

Hm, on the left side I have "Online" with a minus or plus. With the former showing I can read how many people are online, but not the names.

Yes, but if you click on "Member List", you'll arrive at the, well, member list and you'll get a nice list of everybody that's online at the moment.

Re the smileys, I should point out that base phpBB2 does not provide the "Quick Reply" capability that we have here in the Postnuke version PnphpBB2. If you use the base forum code, you always have to click "Reply" to reply. You then get to see all of the smileys.

The same is true here, where we are using PnphpBB2 (because we are using Postnuke). Hit the "Post Reply" button and you'll always have the smileys available to you.

Alternatively, learn the code for the smileys. The common ones are very easy! colon wink colon - get my meaning?

Eeffoc did you really mean a chat room, not just a members' only forum?

Could anyone tell me where on the "Memberlist" page it shows who is online, please? I can see the list of members, sorted by joining date, but no indication that anyone is online now.

Thanks,

Hugh

If you take the "Members List" on the left hand menu, you will see the online members in the second box down, separated by a "+" sign. I believe you used to be able to see the online members in the forum member list as well, but maybe Phil switched off that functionality? Or maybe it depends on your personal settings?

Oh dear.

Right, try the "Who is online block" which should now have appeared at the bottom of the forum index.

Sorry Phil/Neku, I was using the "Memberlist" link at the top of this page, roughly centred in the right hand chunk between the Search and Usergroups links, not the left hand menu "Member list" link (which works just fine). As the names were so similar, I didn't check for another link like that on the page!

Thanks,

Hugh

I do love the little light bulbs we have now, though. Thanks, Phil! ;)

If you mean what I think you mean Neku, I think you'll find they're stylised heads!

Hugh, I've said a few times that the integration between Postnuke & phpBB2 is not perfect. The problem is that they overlap in the area of user data.

Hopefully a later release of PNphpBB2 will be slightly better integrated. There is also the expectation that the user subsystem in Postnuke 0.8 will be more advanced than that in 0.726 (the latest release, which we're using).

It's an interesting journey though, eh people? Or is it just me being geeky?

Well, sorry to disagree with you, but those are obviously light bulbs, and mine is even green!
