Heading to Dublin

Postby PD » Sat Mar 24, 2007 6:59 pm

In mid April we're off to Dublin for the weekend.

Do any Dublin members have any recommendations for coffee shops to visit?

i'm sure bv or perhaps other dubliners will know much better, but i have lived in 'beautiful' temple bar for half a year not so long ago.
there is a real gem to be found: La Corte!!! they are roughly here
that's on essex quay, between parliament street and fishamble street.

there are at least 4 la cortes in total. i used to live just around the corner of the one described above. have great memories of lazy saturdays there. unfortunately they're closed on sundays. their coffee is reasonably good (sometimes with a bit of latte art), while some of the stuff they sell around the area can be really horrid!!! la corte also has great food, especially that one on essex quay. if the elderly lady is cooking and has the 4 cheese gnocci on the menu you should give that a try (if you fancy a heavy load of cheese that is ;)) the minestrone is real good too.

then there is another reasonable good outlet (open on sundays too) in the little pedestrianized area (don't remember the name) that's swift's row(?) or lower liffey st or even between???. it's the one next to the funky 12 apostle mural. or invite yourself over to bv. i'm sure he has plenty of freshly roasted beans stocked...

Black KvdW Speedster / Arrarex Caravel / Elektra Nino / Vario / Huky 500 / and a bunch of less frequently used things...

Bewleys on Grafton street is just about the only place I know where you'll probably get a freshly ground and really well brewed shot and latte art abounds....

I'll never own too many items with which to enjoy coffee.

I have just been to Bewleys, and their Cappuccino was delicious!

This week I like my coffee luke-warm.

Fallon & Byrne on Exchequer Street does good coffee on all three of its floors; the best is probably (obviously?) the coffe bar part on the ground floor at the back, but downstairs does lots of wine by the glass and small plates too.
