Ok...so this is just not fair!

Is it actually possible to find a good shot?

I'm in Rome today and tomorrow on business (not in the city centre alas but a dull business park and Holiday-inn combo)

But damn it ...i just had one of the best non-home brewed espresso's ever......from the companies VENDING MACHINE!!!!

Its a big normal looking machine .... but its a pro-superauto inside and damn it makes a fine espresso.

The crema was rich and deep red. Held its form a while and had a lovely flavour.

I think of what we get in the UK and its annoying.

I've been extolling the wonders of espresso in Rome (albeit, made by humans) for years, but no one wants to hear about it. Congratulations! Enjoy it.

I decided I needed a bit of a change so I roasted some Monsooned Malabar. That was a change!

Sounds great. An exciting find I would think when you were probably only expecting something wet and warm. Makes me wonder how frequent the adjustments need to be to maintain such a high standard given the recent discussions about how difficult it is to keep a superauto running perfectly.

Sounds a million miles away from a klix plastic coffee with granules floating on top and undisolved milk powder congealed in the bottom ;)

I couldn't agree more. I also like the banter that you sometimes get with it. The last time I was there, the barrista gave me mini lecture on the genius of Italian engineering while insisting that I try out his plastic sugar dispenser... dry and having a laugh at my expense, I like it... a bit like this forum actually.
