That is a scary scary site Alan... there's even a section called "Bedroom Use Products"... I didn't click on it in case there was a pic of Rob in his rubber nurses uniform and mallet

Whats even more scary is that they are members of the SCAE, supposedly 'specialty' coffee.

LOL it means nothing I'm afraid. Some of the old dinosaurs at the SCAE is frightening. But I'm going to shake um up this weekend :) The AGM is on Sunday morning, might see if I can get up early enough to make some waves :)

The store is an online subsidurary of another Scottish commercial distributor, the SCAE originates there. Nothing exists to stop the cheap and cheerful online side line using the SCAE logo. I think it would be great for the SCAE to test all members on a yearly basis - and the membership logo displaying the rank each member achieves - thus encouraging members to up their own game.

I like that idea Rob, may I pinch it for the AGM :) Anyone can buy the logo and do nothing to keep it theree apart from keep paying. The board should get an injection of new blood soon which I hope gets the ball rolling with change but I fear it will remain the old boys club for a while yet. Now if only that third wave happened in Europe too :)

Please do take it to the board Steve, I am well aware that the only thing needed to affiliate with the SCAE is deep pockets, which kind of defeats the object. For it to mean something there has to be a way to show members also know which end of a portafilt to lock in an espresso machine!

I'm with you Barry, this kind of site does real damage to the industry, because some people think its OK. I suppose its the difference between making a living out of coffee or living with coffee.

Horror, what some people will consume when someone is mad enough to invent, produce it and advertise it is beyond me..
Bezzera B3000A, Giotto Premium, several Cona's, several Balance Brewers, Atomic, Milano etc,
Aristarco, Rancilio MD 40, Ditting and Eureka MCI grinders, several antique roasters, a mini500/800N propane/electric Taiwanese roaster, greens all over the place...and some other unmentionables that have not been mentioned......
