Sometimes you simply cannot have your dose of fresh coffee. Unfortunately your body needs caffeine. What will you do?

I'm afraid I sometimes stoop to drinking the horrible mud produced by the coffee machine at work. It's not even a 50p, it's free, and better than that: it's not even coffee! At least, I use self-hypnosis to block my coffee tasting brain from interfering with my swallow reflexes.
This week I am eagerly anticipating the first god shots from my La Spaziale machine....

While the Gaggia's out, I also drink the muck at work. (When the Gaggia's working I take chilled shots in a vacuum flask and add to hot water in a cup when I want something, to make an "instant" Americano).

The muck at work is vile, no doubt about it, but I'm a caffeine addict as well as coffee nerd so I have to take my stimulation where I can - or else fall asleep at my desk!

Is the Poll closed already? I'm a definate non compromiser, if it's not real coffee I stick to tea! We've actually got super auto's at work, but with Bewley's coffee it's not even worth thinking about.

Hmm, I've just re-opened the poll (by setting the duration to zero days) but it doesn't seem to be co-operating. Dunno why. Maybe it's something to do with the migration from native phpBB, but I wouldn't have thought so.

Yes, well I like really good tea as well but I can't get that at work either, so I just take what I can get and hope nobody sees me!

British Airways always proudly mentions on its in-flight menu it serves Nescaffe Gold! I had one little sip, and I have sworn off instant coffee for the rest of my life. I will not even consider it as a caffeine fix, I would rather walk around with a headache, I am serious!

Typically British by the way. Imagine if American Airlines proudly said they serve McDonald's Hamburgers in Business Class!

I am not familiar with the expression 'go off somebody'. Does it mean offend? I am used to that, I am a rude, unmannered Dutchman you know!

Nescafe for a while even had a coffeehouse in London. Actually it is the most popular type of coffee sold in the UK! To make things worse, they even advertise it as gourmet coffee!

PS Did I really offend you? You didn't use a smiley or anything!

Hey, remember Tony (aka Anthony Stewart) Head (this comment for the Brits, sorry everyone else)? You know, the English librarian geezer from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"? He made his name initially in TV adverts for Gold Blend Nescafe. Now he's a (fairly) well known actor. (Nice guy too, lives in Bath - Allyson and her colleagues used to see him from time to time when Allyson was the children's librarian for Bath, and I saw him on the train the other day). Notwithstanding my feigned horror, Eward may not be too far off the mark I regret to say.
