Is it actually possible to find a good shot?

Popped in here a couple of times. 2 Kiwis run it so expect very australasian dosing techniques and tastes. Using Monmouth coffee (which I don't think works that well at lower temps and 22grams throws - but that is just me) and doing a good job. Pretty good espresso, excellent milk and nice rosettas on top.

http://www.flat-white.co.uk is the url I think.

Pop in, nice glass of minted water with your espresso. they are trying really hard and I wish them every success.

For those of us unlikely to be near Soho or the Antipodes in the near future :( can you explain what exactly about the dosing techniques and tastes?

I take it from the 22gm thing that they're using big baskets (triples?) and pulling relatively short shots from them (seattle style?)

Thanks

Yup, cramming as much coffee as possible into a triple basket. You get big flavours but it lacks a bit in complexity.

I know the blend they use quite well, and for me they don't run the machine quite hot enough - but that's me and my fondness for sweet espresso rather than the overly acidic ones.
