Chaff free beans

Was just wondering whether beans from certain countries/areas are chaff free, because I was very surprised to roast some honduras today and have no chaff whatsoever.

I can understand them having different amounts of chaff, but none whatsoever?

Come to think of it, it was decaffeinated using the swiss water process which appears to remove some, but then again so had the guatemalan decaf which was full of chaff. Oh well.

Most decafs have no chaff. In fact I have yet to find a decaf with chaff.

This also means that they generally only have 1 crack, and that is the 2nd crack, and are therefore most often overroasted!

All depends on the process used. Some process such as Ntural Processed leave more chaff on whereas a fully washed will have little.

Hm, I think the guatemalan was apparently "mexican water" decaffeinated as opposed to the swiss process.

I've always noted both cracks on the guatemalan but on the honduras all I could hear was 2nd.

Polished coffees have little to no chaff. Monsooned coffees ditto.
