Yes but unfortunately the fans died so atm I have to use a spoon and stir like crazy.

Well, did a couple of roasts today, the new burner is crazy! (in a good way ;) ). The door of the drum couldn't take the heat though (pun intended) and started to bend so beans spilled out and... well you can imagine ;)

Oh, this is the setup with the new cooler by the way.

So I took the time to create a reenforcement of the door and fired up again. Preheated chamber to about 230C and dumped in the beans (Brazil Faz. Lagoa, 1200g). Funny to see the fall in chamber temp. See pic for temp readouts a couple of minutes in.

This time all went well, it's very handy to see roasting chamber temps vs beanmass temp. This allowed me (after some getting used to) to stall the chamber temp at a quite steady 260C. Nice responsive burner I must say :)

Took the roast into 1th (about 12 minutes into roast) and then turned on the heat a bit more (with plenty to spare). At about 15 minutes 2nd crack started so I let it go a bit further. I dumped at 16min. Roast came out a bit too dark for my taste but not burned. Had a small problem cooling, I forgot to connect the vacuum cleaner, made a good time getting it out the cupboard an connecting it though ;) So maybe a bit too slow cooling but we'll see.

2nd roast I dragged a bit to 17min and dumped at start of 2nd. This was a blend of Brazil Faz. Lagoa and Guatemala Finca Isabel (2 leftovers I dumped together for this test, 1000g). A bit stupid to do a test with a blend I now realise... one of the coffees came out a tad light, the other one a bit dark.

Anyway, the roaster is up to its task and I just have ta get used to it... it'll take me a couple more roasts though I think. I might change the door a bit so I can actually see the beans, it used to be that way but the reinforcement I put on it reduced visibility to almost zero.

Photo 3 is the result, I forgot to take pics of the roasts so I thought I'd post pics of the packaging instead ;)

All in all a great day :)

Wow!! It looks really nice, and although the shot is not close enough the coffee seems very uniformly roasted.
