The film was made in 1961 by the Pan-American Coffee Bureau and the Norwegian Coffee Brewing Institute. What I find really interesting is the talk about care, about water (with no details of what good water might be) and time, but no mention whatsoever of coffee quality, blend or most importantly, freshness. Open a can of pre-ground sawdust and then carefully brew with a percolator. Yummy!

In contrast, I once saw a short documentary in German, also made in the 1960s and it stressed the need for owning a home grinder (it showed a wooden hand grinder like a Zassenhaus) because coffee loses its freshness and aroma within hours after grinding, as it pointed out.

There is also a really funny version of this same film but with a voice-over added by Josh Way.

It is on You Tube and you will find it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVkusuvTdHw

I think is a significant improvement on the original!
