New Bodum press pot

Postby Jules » Fri Dec 05, 2008 5:28 pm

I was browsing through Bodum's 2009 catalogue and came across a redesign of the filter assembly on their French press. Look at page 10-11 of http://tinyurl.com/55779m

It says the whole filter can be lifted out with 'no coffee grounds left in the glass' and the filter can be opened at the bottom to 'release the grounds easily into the trash.

Did a quick google but couldn't find anything else on it.

Sounds good .... it's possibly so new that no-one has reviewed it yet I guess :)

I bet they'll charge a bit for that.

hmm, is interesting - but worryingly plasticky. If it's not done with super-attention to detail, the resulting coffee could well taste of that same plastic.

Plus, I'm really happy with my aeropress, it makes an amazing coffee, but most people see it and think it's a bit... geeky. If people want bodum, surely they want glass, metal, and perhaps a bit of Bakelite? I'm not sure who their target market is, really.
