Water lost during brewing

Postby phil2spill » Mon May 28, 2007 2:53 pm

Hi,

I'm doing some bulk brewing calcs and wondering what allowance needs to be made for the amount of water that gets absorbed by the grounds during brewing? Is there a guide figure known to the trade? Thanks.

Generally you will lose around 1ml per g of coffee - certainly that is about right with espresso, so I can't imagine it would be miles different with other methods.

I'll never own too many items with which to enjoy coffee.
