I just tried the aeropress over the weekend. Last year's travel kit was a Brikka and a turkish grinder. Maybe this year it will be the aeropress instead. It makes really good coffee. Not espresso, no, not even lungo. But apart from the espresso machine, so far I must admit I find it tastes better than any other method I have tried, including the Brikka moka pot. (Haven't tried an ibrik, so can't say anything about that. But my tastebuds claim it beats the press pot, the Bodum vac pot and common drip coffee machines)
As for the Aeropress being good to travel with... well, aren't there a bit too many parts? The Brikka travels as one part. The aeropress has filters+filter hodler, stirring stick, coffee spoon and two cylinders. And a mostly useless funnel. None of this, except for the coffee spoon, fits inside the aeropress. I also find it extremely ugly. Maybe that´s only me.
But with a bit of functional re-design, and perhaps a taste job, this would be a killer coffee gadget. Oh, and a metal filter! Please let us buy a metal filter!

I agree Zix love the aerobie but the more I drink the less its an espresso machine replacment. But you should try the clover, like the aerobie except cleaner tase and the flavours (sorry note to self stop thinking about the clover everyone will get bored with you).

Nobody will get bored I guess, only jealous. I too can't stop to think of it. But the coffee to go at a fuel station in germany on the way back up has helped to come down at least a bit ...
*sigh*

People have been using these as metal filters http://www.anothercoffee.co.uk/products/item110300.aspx

You can get 2 circular aerobie filters from 1 of these

I'm confused as to why you can't? I'm intending to order one later this week, and as you can get 2 filters from one goldfilter I'd be happy to send you the other "half"... If that's any use then let me know...

Steven.

Oh... the clover, yes. I had forgot about that. Is it still 7000 greens?
Thanks for the tip, wallisj. How do you cut an Aeropress filter with a good enough fit out of that one? I suppose a pair of scissors won´t do?

$8000 and I stil think it was worth it, thats how highly I rated the clover.

Didn't the guy next to it say $9000? Whatever, it's worth every pence me thinks. I'm back home now since two days and I really *miss* the coffee it makes.

But why is it so good? It's a filter system yes? The cycle is about 60 seconds, which suggests it's partially pressurised. Temperature control is obviously good, but these things don't explain the rave revues.
