Messing it up with a moka pot

Postby Terje » Wed Jul 13, 2005 4:07 pm

So here I am, having just put the newly ground, newly roasted beans in my moka pot and I'm standing over the stove to see the coffee as it comes... and it smells just fine... but damn it takes long time... maybe I shouldn't have turned the heat all the way off after roasting... let's raise it a little... it should work now... sure smells wonderful... but why isn't anything coming through at the top?... wait... no!

I didn't put any water in it!

When I lived with my parents, we usually drank coffee from a moka pot. I think 20% of the time, I/we forgot the coffee. One time I even forgot the coffee... Moka pot is a lot more tricky than it looks :)

Definitly. Especially when you just want to make another espresso, put the pot on the stove and go away - and suddenly, 4 minutes later, it smells very funny and the espresso is boiling in the moca pot. Bah ;)

This week I like my coffee luke-warm.
