Silvia has arrived!!

Postby simonp » Tue Apr 20, 2004 10:56 am

Got to work this morning after a long weekend away in Devon, and there was a nice big package waiting for me. Yes, Silvia has arrived!! :D

I have not had time to fully unpack it yet, but all looks well. The portafilter is just such a difference to the Morphy Richards thing, this looks more like it!

I'll have a play this evening although I won't have much time.

Does anyone know where I can get spares for the Silvia? I'd like to fit a new grouphead gasket as it hasn't been changed in a while. I emailed Drury last week but have had no reply.

Cheers

Just been having a look at the filter baskets, and the holes are much bigger than on the Roma, I reckon my current grind setting will go straight through the holes.

I have the Rancilio double basket and an LM style ridgless basket, which one should I start with?

Always start with any double basket. Buy some crap coffee, you might waste a lot dialing everything in and find out about the differences. When switching to real coffee (its home-roasted one, isnt it?) you may have to make some more adjustments, because every brand behaves different.
Good luck!
