lock nut seized in Gaggia grouphead shower screen

Postby Jonny782 » Tue Apr 19, 2016 2:10 pm

I'm always intending to look after my Classic better but inevitably lazily don't bother then the nut seizes up. Annoyingly its happened again, and I need to change the gasket. I've tried lubricating oil and will try tapping it gently with a hammer. What's the next thing to try if that fails?

The shower screen is held on by a No.2 Phillips screw. I wonder which nut you are trying to remove.

I decided I needed a bit of a change so I roasted some Monsooned Malabar. That was a change!

Thanks to all those who answered. I managed to get it off by priming and heating up the machine, tapping the screw quite hard a few times with a hammer, then turning the screw clockwise fractionally before going back the other way.

just a quick tip... may help others,

if you get a stuck screw, lever down the shower with a flat head screwdriver, then use some pliers to grip the shower and turn it.
normally the shower will rotate the screw with ease and help loosen it.
