Been in London since yesterday morning, didn't have a map or know where to go on the first day but got some tips from each cafe we went to.
So far visited Dose, Climpson & Sons, Tina we salute you, Taylor st Barista's and pulled shots for a few hours this morning at the Columbia flower market and had heaps of fun after not making coffee in almost 2 months.
Overall quite impressed with the standard of coffee being made, wouldn't say it's the best i've had but I never judge anything on just a few visits.
The London coffee scene feels like Melbourne several years ago where quality coffee was only just evolving into what it is becoming now.
Surprised that some places we went to were closed saturday and quite a few weren't open today, i'm used to Melbourne being a 7 day city, feels like home though, Aussies everywhere! |

Hi all,
Just a quick note to say - thanks to everyone I met in London, and for the great times (and coffee!). I did make it to quite a few cafes in the end. The bar-setting in London is quite something. Now I really have something to work to!
(apologies I've not been around the forums / posted / thanked anyone yet for their coffee and company - I've been off for a week in Ireland, for an impromptu cycling trip. Just me, my girlfriend, a tent, two bikes - and an aeropress and trangia. Mmmm...  ). |

Seriously, though, I'm typing in my lunch break - and as usual, the aeropress has brought the usual stare or two. (We started a new academic year today, 08.30, so everything is up in the air for a while). But the alternative is hospital coffee, so what else is there to do?
Certainly, whenever anyone asks, over the next couple of years, I'll be steering med students / future doctors towards SqM and Monmouth coffees. Oxford's too small to hold us all; a good number go up to london for junior posts - and doctors do like their coffee... |

| My fave 'spresso spot -Milk Bar just got faverer. They now have a track pump outside so you can pump up yer tyres while knockin back a flattie! |
