Hi everyone

continuing my OffTopic section posts (three in the last week) here's me showing off my new plasma TV Very Happy

I'm having some problems using it with my PC, as the stupid thing doesn't want to see it as an additional screen. The funny thing is it sees it under "Multiple screens configuration" in the nVidia panel and I can switch between my LCD and the plasma, but there's no way to use both at the same time. It would be simply easier to have that option, as I wouldn't have to break my neck to see what's going on at the desktop when I'm sitting at my desk, having my plasma behind me.

I have a 7600GT dual DVI graphics card and my PC detects the TV as a plug and play monitor, but it doesn't show it in Screen Settings (just shows my PC LCD).

So anyone had similar problems, or know what to do to force the damn PC to see it as an additional screen and enable dual view or clone mode?

Cheers,
dsc.

Congrats on the new tv. Looks great. Smile

A few question: Question
Have you tried re-powering the pc AFTER connecting both screens?
How are you connecting it to the PC (vga, dvi, hdmi etc) ?
Is you pc running xp or vista?

Hi Puck

Yup restarted everything and every time I do that a "Found new hardware" screen comes up at the startup.

Connection is via hdmi-dvi cable. DVI on the PC and HDMI on the TV.

Win XP Professional is my system of choice.

As I said I can switch between the PC LCD and the TV, but it's a bit annoying to use nVidia control panel to do it evertime, especially when the whole desktop is displayed on the TV. If it was possible to have a key shortcut to do it, that would be lovely, but I don't think that's possible.

Cheers,
dsc.

dsc, shouldn't that money have been spent on a Versalab M3 and a GS/3 machine? Shame on you Wink

Other than that, have fun in your home theatre while enjoying a good cup of coffee Smile

Hmm, it does sound strange. Sorry I'm not much help.
It may be worth trying the vga input (if it has one).

Hi DSC,

There might very well be a screen for creating shortcuts. I have an nVidia card and it has one. So clone/dual screen doesn't work at all, or do you have problems playing a movie in full screen? I have that problem on a laptop of mine. As soon as I watch something via Windows Media Player, the screen will be black on one of the 2 screens.

Something else: Do you have a Display's tab under the advanced option of the screen settings? If so, make sure that both monitors are "switched on"

Hope this helps

Hi everyone,

well I tried setting it up, so I have a key shortcut to switch between screens or at least have a cloned desktop, but alas it's not possible. The funny thing is, when the TV is on and I turn on the PC the signal goes to the plasma, so I get nothing on my PC LCD. As soon as WinXP logon screen shows up it switches back to the LCD.

Joey: well come on!!Smile I do have a small sofa, but the three of us (my g/f, you and me) should fit nicely:) Oh and coffee is there as well, from a one group, but it is quite delicious;)

Cheers,
dsc.

PS. I bought the plasma, after the bills came. I guess I should be worried about the next one huh?Wink

Hi

I finally managed to set up the TV with my laptop. Dual screen all the way baby!!:

Much more convenient and I can place the laptop wherever I want. I guess ATI makes better drivers than nVidia.

Cheers,
dsc.
