The city council of Glasgow is proposing to open a coffee house right in the middle of George Square, a big landmark in the heart of the city.
The man who is planning it says that he has researched sites around Britain, and has seen many examples of city square with cafes rond the edges, but that he can find no other city square with a cafe sited in the middle of it.
I have told him that I would ask TMC members if they know of any such public squares and cafes in Europe, and if anybody has any photographs of such places.
If anyone knows of a public square with a cafe in the middle - could you let me know?
Thanks

| A couple of weeks ago someone posted a link to the web site of a guy who's ambition in life was to visit and photograph every Starbucks in the UK. He had dozens of the photos on his site. If you can find the link (somewhere on the TMC site) it might be worth checking whether one of the Starbucks had managed to centre itself in a town square! |

That was me and this is the link

Is the point just that the café stands free in the middle of a place?
I guess the outside gardens of cafés at the side of the squares don't count...
Hmmmm - here is the "Lusthaus", it's in the middle of our zoo. Not a square in the city, but a square in a park, surrounded by the animals... (first 2pics)
and another one in a park surounded by a street (3rd pic)
