hi does anyone know where the best place to get a stainless steel knock out drawer is? I'm wanting one for as cheap as possible  |

I've always considered these an expensive unnecessary accessory,try saying that quickly 3 times 
As a start though try HERE |

I used to think so as well, but 4 months ago I decided to put prejudice aside and try one. The other reason was when servicing my waste discposal, I found that emptying 12 years of coffee grinds down there had not done it a lot of good!
I used to flick the majority into the bid, but this meant you needed a wettish puck to successfully fling it out.
I now use a knock box and would never go back to my old ways, and when the drawers full, just take it out and empty onto the garden or compost heap....bliss. Yes for 23 years I have missed out on the simple pleasure of a knock box!!!

they sell the Quick Mill ones (which I have, I stand my Mazzer on it), but they also make their own in different sizes and types.

for those wishing to look at the "drawers" of our five legged mule, try HERE
Always thought that drawers were a bit expensive myself, though they do have their uses, especially if you have a drawer for tools and another for spent pucks.

I'm with compo . I have a Grindenstein from Australia. Just the right size and easily emptied after each session before rinsing under the tap. The Mirthful Mule does have a great selection of boxes for those wanting something a little shinier  . |

| I bang them into the sink and run plenty of water, there was nothing in the U-bend last time I had it off (to retrive a shower screen screw).... is this bad? |

Not at all, but knockout draws do have there uses if you making more than one. Also a good place to put grounds from the doser that you dont want.

Hey guys, I was a little surprised not to see anyone suggest the obvious: If cost is a concern, make your own! Express yourself! A whole host of containers that were originally intended for other uses are readily adapted to a new role as a knock box. I've dragooned everything from neatly-ornamented stainless steel covered sugar bowls and serving dishes to funky retro ice buckets shaped like penguins! You can pick up an appropriate container at the local thrift shop for a song and make the conversion by adding a hardwood dowel rod sleeved with rubber hose. So why not try thinking outside the (knock) box?
