As recently suggested elsewhere. Please add your recommended grinders in the following price brackets (some leeway allowed) and give their suitability for different brewing techniques. Price brackets are
£0-£50 (0-70EUR)
£50-£150 (70-215EUR)
£150-£250 (215-360EUR)
£250 (360EUR) and over

Ok Dom, you asked for it#:-

£0 - boot - as in grind under foot, good for cafetiere or filter or doosers

£50 - £150 - too much coffee - as in will pay to cover the cost of the processs

£300 - £500 - machine built to last,

Truer words have never been spoken! Smile Yet another great point to emphasize Smile

So what do you think?
Lesser Grinder & a good machine = Sad and an occasional Smile (or am I being harsh?)
Great grinder and a "lesser" machine = Smile Smile
Get them both right = Very Happy Very Happy and even Mr. Green

Of course, that's not a guarantee... as it's the factor operating these machines that makes a difference as well Wink It just helps when you're working with the right stuff Smile

My only real experience is with the Mazzer Mini E and I love her so Smile and she fits in the last bracket Smile I also have the Super Jolly which, as new would fit in the same bracket; however, SJ is 3x loved, and was acquired in the 2nd bracket Wink

50-150: Gaggia MDF. Since I got my new burrs I *really* believe this is a good grinder for that price, even if the doser sucks (but you can work around that).

The MC2 is better than a Bodum or Solis on the up to £150 range IMO. I have an MC2 and a Solis - they are chalk and cheese.

How much an MC2 then? I've not really seen them anywhere, so they weren't an option when I bought mine (Dualit = Solis).

Yeah Soapy, I expect it's here to let guests post, but can we please move it to another public viewing post and let non-members join if they wish to contribute? Some of us here rely on the edit button a little more than we should Wink

As if Phil hasn't got enough to do already ..... is the infrastructure in place that would easily facilitate a change to allow members to edit in the open area but not non-members perhaps?

More lost hours, this time due to DIY (sick of painting)

The MC2 grinder from Iberital is fantastic value in the Automatic (timed grind) option, stepless grind adjustment from conical burrs, nice body, 500g bean hopper for commercia users, but mainly follow the link above and our friend HD is Giving away (and I mean it) the MC2 for under one hundered notes. At that price nothing is close to the grind quality, design or look of the MC2.
